App Review - Maths Chef
Application software download free Android
Tiggly Chef is a revolutionary math learning app that helps children synthesize their "spontaneous concepts" (everyday math they practice naturally) with "scientific concepts" (the organized, formal mathematics schools try to teach). This is done by helping them learn early addition through a fun kitchen cooking game. It is designed to challenge not bore; to be playful, not mindless; and to generate meaningful learning rather than rote memorization.
Cooking with Chef
Join the wildly popular Chef as he prepares his preposterously silly recipes in his super-duper secret kitchen laboratory. Each recipe challenges you to add the right amount of ingredients to get the Chef's experiment just right. As you add ingredients, mathematics symbols appear on screen explaining your actions and helping you naturally learn numbers, and the meaning of plus, + and equal signs =. Chef also encourages you to think flexibly and follow instructions.
This app is fully compatible with Tiggly Counts physical toys, inspired by classic Cuisenaire rods used in Montessori classrooms. Your kids can use the Tiggly Counts to physically interact with this app, taking away extra ingredients, and help you solve the problem. This allows them to experience the process of addition and subtraction through a more hands-on, tactile approach, connecting intuitive and formal mathematical concepts. Recommended for ages 3 and up. Developed with MIT education experts.
